Why did you join the HMC Board of Directors?
Beside HMC, what’s your favorite music group and why?
Bio: Dr. Justin Langham enjoys a multi-faceted career as a conductor, composer, performer, and educator who is passionate about using his unique blend of experiences to connect with others through music.
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Justin earned a bachelor’s degree in both performance and composition from the University of Alabama, followed by his masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Houston. He currently serves as Director of Music at St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas.
As founder and artistic director of the internationally renowned trumpet and organ duo, Deux Voix (“two voices”), Justin has curated and presented over 350 performances in some of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals and concert halls across 20 states and multiple overseas tours to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and France. He is also an award-winning composer and arranger, and a devoted educator, presenting lectures and masterclasses for many arts organizations, colleges, and universities around the country.
After serving as Adjunct Professor of Music at Lone Star College for eight years, Justin currently maintains a private teaching studio at his home in the Museum District, where he enjoys spending time with his partner and most trusted collaborator, pianist Andreea Muţ, and their Great Pyrenees mix Risa.
Bio: Pianist Jessica Myers has performed across the United States and abroad and is active in a myriad of musical ventures, including teaching, performing, conducting, vocal coaching, and instrumental coaching.
In Houston, Jessica has collaborated with many top musicians and conductors, including members of the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet Orchestra, Moores School of Music Faculty, Texas Music Festival, Houston Symphony Chorus, and the Houston Chamber Choir.
Jessica joined the Grammy-award winning Houston Chamber Choir for their recording of Circlesong by the acclaimed composer Bob Chilcott in 2020.
Equally passionate about music education and arts advocacy, she has held leadership positions in community arts schools and music teacher organizations and teaches students from ages 4-99.
Jessica’s favorite work happens when she can connect her love of music with members of the community, as she believes strongly in the healing power of the arts.
She serves as the director of music at New Hope Lutheran Church, accompanies for incredible
music programs in Title I schools across the city, and plays for HGO community outreach programs for people in the unhoused and hospital communities.
Jessica earned her degrees in piano performance and collaborative piano from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Houston, where she served as a teaching assistant.
